A few people already know this, but it's about time to make an announcement publically: Fanime 2013 will be my last convention.

I'm at the point in my life when conventions no longer appeal to me. My big focal points right now are graduate school and starting my career, and conventions don't really fit into the picture anymore.

~

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a cosplayer. The hobby has allowed me to meet wonderful, amazing people who have great talents, and I'm grateful for every friendship I've made and each learning opportunity I've experienced.

This is not the end of my hobby as a costumer! I will still attend certain events in costume, such as festivals, parties, and location shoots, and this website will continue to be a networking source and the main portfolio of my creations. More and more these days, I prefer smaller, more personal costuming experiences over big cons, and my interest is shifting away from cosplay and onto movie and historical garment recreation.

This May will be full of thanks and goodbyes to the people who have made cosplaying so wonderful. Let's make it a time to remember! :blowkiss:

I'm thinking of doing the same thing myself. As I get older I feel like I just don't fit in with the con crowd anymore. I too I'm seriously pursuing my career and when I start it, I won't have time for a social life anymore. If I do retire from cosplay photography, I can look back and be proud of the huge collection that I've built up over the years.

Sadness! My first time cosplaying with you will be my last!? :( We like all the same thiiiiiiiings.

I love making costumes, but I don't feel the same about cons anymore either. I feel so old and out of place, and it's a 50/50 chance whether it'll be a "pretty good con" or just awful, boring, and I want to go home. xD; Hopefully next Fanime falls into the "pretty good con" category or something better!

I think that's how I feel as well. Nearly everyone at the cons is in their teens and 20s and I'm 43. So even though I love anime, I feel like I'm out of place and I don't fit in anymore. Hardly anyone ever talks to me at the cons and that makes me feel really lonely as well. Also when I start my career, I won't any time for cons or even a social life. I haven't made up my mind yet whether or not I'll retire from cosplay photography.

However, I also make AMVs and I've made some really good ones in the past so I'll continue making them. I just came up with a great idea for a Cowboy Bebop AMV yesterday.

:( I know, we both are fans of a lot of old school stuff.

Even though it's kind of sad (especially since I'll have met you and all our Esca crew!) it's just time for me to move on. Fanime is a great con, though! I know you'll have fun.

BUT, that said...one thing I'm going to continue is location shoots. So there's always the possibility that when folks are in town for a con, we can convene somewhere nearby for a shoot/little get together. :) I'm just past my con stage.

Wish I could go to this but its not going to be. Even though I will not be really ever attend a convention the same anymore, I go know just to be with friends. (once a year) Enjoy it and don't over stress about it being your last con but a time to be with people. Someday I'll visit north cal-a and we will play.

I'm definitely going to enjoy it! This year has several dream cosplays planned- I'm going out with a bang! :D

Once I'm financially secure enough to afford a proper trip, I'll visit you in Utah.

The last convention...makes me wanna go to fanime even more if I could afford it.

Guess I have until you retire to actually befriend you.
